I know that we are not allowed in Arkansas, to use visible or exposed animal matter as bait. This I'm assuming is to protect birds of prey from getting caught. My question is, can bones be used as eye appeal on flat sets? They're not technically "bait," but I'm not sure if this would be legal.

Animal matter may not be used as bait within 20 feet of a trap unless it is covered.
Bait must be covered in such a way as to withstand wave action, wind action and other normal environmental conditions that could cause it to become visible.

I take this to mean no animal matter.  A bone would be animal matter.

Ok, I'll mark that idea off the list. Thank you Wayne.

Use a piece of PVC pipe as an attracter, works as well as a piece of bone.

So does castor have to be essentially pulverized/liquid/tincture (unidentifiable) to be able to use it on beaver sets in Arkansas, or do they take it easy on beaver lure?

If you can either quickly or quietly switch out shells, you can bring home almost anything.

Since I posted this, the regs have changed and you can now use bleached (viscera free) bone that doesn't have to be covered from above sight.
